Finding the right furniture plan is not easy. I know my next project is usually driven by the "honey Do" list and that means that it has to fit in with the decor. If you are going to build a project you may want to understand the styles of furniture that you can choose from. I thought I would do the work for you and give you an idea of what each style provides.
The key styles that are the most popular are Mission, Modern, Retro, and Country.
Modern styled furniture is just that – Modern. If you can picture clean lines and geometric shapes, then you will have an idea of what Modern furniture looks like. Think of George Jetson, or your favorite Sci-Fi movie, and you will get a picture of what modern looks like. If this is the style that you are looking for, you may want to go to IKEA and purchase it because this style of furniture can be either hard or easy to make depending on the shape of the finished piece.
Mission styled furniture is a little more woodworker friendly. It has a distinct style that makes it stand out. The chairs typically have tall backs, and all are designed with basically straight lines and very little curves. The hardware has the old tarnished brass look. If you can picture Mennonite furniture, then you will be pretty close to identifying mission furniture. The style is characterized by simple, functional designs made of oak and stained wood with minimal ornamentation. Leather and Native American designs are often the motif of the coverage.
Country Style furniture gained popularity in the 1980's. It is a casual style often featuring nature and nostalgic motifs. You will also find much hand crafted elements and even disturbing of the wood. This style of furniture is the most practical and useful edition of traditional furniture. There are several types of country furniture. French Provencal, American country and English country are some of them to name. Each of them has its own distinct feature and appeal; you can seriously categorize them as rural. However, you can find some common features like painted finish and muted colors, in all of them. Floral, stripes, checks are most common prototypes in fabric used in country style furniture.
Retro Style furniture belongs to, or has the look of having been made in the decades between the 1950s and the 1980s. This style of furniture tends to look back nostalgically on times past and tries to imitate it. This style of furniture can be whimsical and can allude to pop culture. If you can picture the big bold colors and sleek lines, then you have done it right. Unfortunately for the avid wood worker you will have to dig deep to find a plan you can build that resembles this style as they tend not to be made of wood, but of metal.
Scientists have advanced knowledge about the proteins that help control blood sugar, or glucose, during and after exercise, and this knowledge could lead to new drug therapies or exercises more effective for the prevention of Type 2 diabetes and other health problems associated with high levels of blood sugar.
Insulin resistance occurs when the body is not produced by properly stimulating the transport of glucose, a type of sugar inside the cells as an energy source. Too much glucose in the bloodstream can cause a variety of medical problems including Type 2 diabetes, said Gregory Cartee, a professor in the School of Kinesiology and principal investigator of the study. Katsuhiko Funai is the co-author, graduate student and researcher in the School of Kinesiology.
Insulin and muscle contractions are the most important stimuli that increase glucose transport into the interior of muscle cells. The cells can then use glucose for energy, said Cartee. But scientists do not know exactly how this works.
The group reacted Cartee watched two different proteins that were considered important in stimulating the transport of glucose by two different enzymes, linked also with the transport of glucose. The goal of this study was to understand the contribution of the two proteins, called AS160 and TBC1D1 in skeletal muscle stimulated by insulin.
“Trying to rule out or determine what proteins are important in the exercise,” said Cartee.
The results indicate that the protein TBC1D1 was the most important for the transport of glucose stimulated by exercise and suggested that the second protein, AS160, may be less important for this effect of exercise. Give attention to the protein works best, in this case the TBC1D1, scientists can develop methods for making proteins that work best for people with insulin resistance, Cartee said.
Insulin resistance is a major health problem affecting millions of people, he said.
“Almost all people with diabetes have Type 2 muscle resistance to insulin,” said Cartee. “This does not cause diabetes by itself, but it is an essential component that contributes to type 2 diabetes. This affects millions of people. Even people who are not diabetic insulin resistance is linked to numerous health problems. “
In the longer term people who have insulin resistance or whose muscles do not respond normally to insulin are more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, said Cartee.
“Apparently the muscles have the machinery to respond to exercise even if they do not respond normally to insulin. If we knew how the exercise could develop more effective protocols for exercise, “he said. “In other cases of people who can not exercise, we could design a drug therapy or something else to control insulin.
One of the major factors of how your credit score is calculated is your capacity. This is the ratio of credit used to the amount of credit that is available. This accounts for 30 percent (almost a third!) of your credit score. For example if you have 5 credit cards with a $1000 limit and you have 3 of them maxed out and 2 of them inactive your capacity would be at 60 percent, $3000 of your $5000 total credit limit. This is not good in the eyes of the lenders and your credit score would suffer because its ideal to be at 10 percent of your capacity.
Remember a credit score is a formula measuring your ability to pay back your debts and obligations. If you have a high capacity and little room left for your maximum then your ability to pay back your obligations is viewed as more limited.
So in the example above, lets say you decide to close the 2 inactive cards for whatever reason. Nowadays, the credit card companies will charge a fee to inactive cards so a lot of people are now closing their inactive accounts. Well unfortunately, they are killing their credit score. If you are maxed out on three cards and you close the other 2, guess what, you are now at 100 percent capacity because your total credit limit is now $3000 instead of $5000. I know from personal experience this will cause your credit score to plummet.
My advice? Don’t close your inactive cards. Use them once a month, maybe for gas, or treat yourself to a latte from Starbucks. Then pay them off immediately so you don’t incur any interest. Do what you can to pay off the cards that are maxed out, or at least get them down to where your balance is under 10 percent of the limit. If you can, try to transfer the balance to a lower interest card, so it can save you a few bucks on the interest. This strategy is sure to improve your credit score because capacity is a major factor, and if your capacity improves, your score improves.
Asking your bank for a credit limit increase on some of your cards isn’t suggested nowadays, this is a strategy that old credit repair people recommended but in today’s economy with the credit crunch, it prompts an account review, which for some quirky reason, may cause the banks to LOWER your credit limit. This would damage your capacity as well.
You are already disciplined enough to not spend on two cards. You are unique in today’s credit crunch world, use your discipline to your advantage, don’t close your accounts. You will be doing more harm to your credit score than good.
